Women's Golf One Stroke Off Lead At MIAA NCAA Championship Qualifier

The Hope College women's golf team is in the middle of tight three-team pack after the first round of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's NCAA Division III Championship qualifier.

The MIAA regular-season champion Flying Dutch are one stroke off the lead after shooting a team score of 335 at Knollwood Country Club in Granger, Indiana on Saturday. They trail first-place Saint Mary's by one stroke and are one shot ahead of third-place Olivet. Trine (352) is in fourth.

Hope will host the final two rounds of the national qualifier on Friday-Saturday, April 28-29 at Ravines Golf Club in Saugatuck.

Senior Britni Gielow of Muskegon, Michigan (Mona Shores HS) and junior Megan Klintworth of Jackson, Michigan (Hanover-Horton) both totaled 11-over-par rounds of 83 to tie for sixth place.

Junior Nicole Meyer of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton) finished eighth with an 84.

Senior Megan Wierenga of Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian) rounded out Hope's scoring with a nine-place 85.

Senior Dominique Molinaro of Burtchville, Michigan (Port Huron Northern) chipped in an 86 to tie for 10th place.
