The Hope College men's lacrosse team opens the 2017 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. match against Alma at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
The Flying Dutchmen (5-3 overall) finished fourth in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll after totaling 33 points and receiving one first-place vote. Alma (6-2) was second behind preseason favorite Albion with 39 points.
This is the fifth all-time meeting between Hope and Alma. The series is tied at two wins apiece. Alma has won the past two games, including a 10-9 decision last season.
Three of the MIAA's top goalscorers will be on the field tonight. Hope's Rocco Mularoni tops the league with 23 goals. Alma's Chase Hunyadi is tied for second with 22 goals with Adrian's Griffin Davison. Alma's Daniel Buchy is tied for fourth with 19 goals.
