Hope College forward Francesca Buchanan has been chosen as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
The senior from Grant, Michigan (Sparta HS) is receiving the award for the second time this season and the sixth time in her career.
Buchanan averaged 16.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while leading the fifth-ranked Flying Dutch to two victories at the Oglethorpe University (Georgia) Quality Suites Holiday Classic last week. She shot 50 percent from the field (13-26).
On Thursday, Buchanan scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds during an 64-46 win at Oglethorpe, a one-loss team.
On Friday, Buchanan chipped in 13 points and pulled down eight rebounds during a 79-37 win against Birmingham Southern College (Alabama).
