Goalies Austin Kane and Jacob Woodford combined for a 23-save shutout to lift the Hope College ice hockey team to a 7-0 victory against Ferris State in the American Collegiate Athletic Association Regional Tournament on Friday in Grand Rapids.
The North Region's third-seeded Flying Dutchmen (20-6-2 overall) advanced to today's 2:30 p.m. second-round game against 10th-seeded Adrian at Patterson Ice Arena. The winner advances to next month's national championships in Columbus, Ohio.
Kane, who started, made 20 saves in 53 minutes on the ice for Hope.
The Flying Dutchmen received goals from seven different players.
Allan Hirsch collected three assists.
