Men's Lacrosse Charges Past DePauw With Six Unanswered Goals

Box Score

An Andrew Pavey-fueled charge propelled the Hope College men's lacrosse team to a dramatic come-from-behind victory against visiting DePauw, Indiana on Wednesday.

The Flying Dutchmen reeled off six unanswered goals for an 11-8 victory, including four from Pavey.

Hope (5-1 overall) extended its win streak to five matches.

Pavey, a sophomore from Grand Rapids, Michigan (Forest Hills Eastern HS), pictured, finished with a career-high and team-high five goals.

After junior Gino Battaglia of Dayton, Ohio (Lebanon) started the Flying Dutchmen's comeback from an 8-5 deficit by scoring 53 seconds into the fourth period, Pavey struck twice in a span of 2 minutes, 6 seconds to even the score at 8-8 with 7:42 remaining.

Sophomore Rocco Mularoni of Hartland, Michigan (Detroit Catholic Central) broke the tie with 5:16 remaining off an assist from senior Grant Brogan of East Lansing, Michigan (East Lansing).

Pavey then delivered the final two goals with 4:03 and 2:42 remaining off of an assist from sophomores Nathaniel Hentschel of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake) and Max Kuiper of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Forest Hills Eastern), respectively.

Mularoni finished with four goals to give him a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association-leading 26 on the season.

Junior goalie Nick Schanhals of North Muskegon, Michigan (North Muskegon) made 10 saves against DePauw (3-4).

The Flying Dutchmen are now idle until a March 24 match at Wabash, Indiana.
