Rachael Webb Wins 800 Meters At 24-Team Emory Invitational

Hope College's Rachael Webb took first in the 800 meters at the 24-team Emory Invitational on Saturday in Atlanta.

The senior from Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grandville HS) recorded a winning time of 2 minutes, 18.05 seconds to help the Flying Dutch place third with 67 points. Webb is pictured at right.

Sophomore Hailey Pickelheimer of Powell, Ohio (Olentangy Liberty) finished second in the 400 hurdles by clocking a time of 1:07.43 in the final.  Emory's Dilys Osei was first at 1:03.08.

Junior Emily Hamilton of Naperville, Illinois (North) came in third in the 5,000 meters with a run of 17:41.49.

In the seeded 1,500-meter race, three Hope runners scored: senior Alexis Guttilla of St. Charles, Illinois (Westminster Christian) in fourth at 4:47.95, sophomore Kelly Peregrine of Traverse City, Michigan (Central) in sixth at 4:51.09, and junior Avery Lowe of North Muskegon, Michigan (North Muskegon) in eighth at 4:54.96.

Two javelin throwers placed: senior Alison Rich of Haslett, Michigan (Haslett) in fourth at 33.90 meters and freshman Emily Tyner of Ann Arbor, Michigan in eighth at 29.88 meters.

Sophomore Mitchel Achien'g of Nairobi, Kenya (Kisumu) recorded a fifth-place, 100-meter hurdle run of 16.26 seconds.

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, two Flying Dutch scored: sophomore Alicia Bostwick of Zionsville, Indiana (Zionsville Community) in firth at 11:45.38, and sophomore Anna Frazee of Watervliet, Michigan (Home School) in sixth at 11:51.06.

Senior Haley Fischman of Grand Ledge, Michigan (Lansing Catholic Central) took fifth at 37.56.

The 4x400 relay of sophomore Chelsea Miskelley of Holland, Michigan (Black River), sophomore Nicole Kruithof of Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian), Pickelheimer and Webb posted a fifth-place run of 4:07.22.

The 4x800 relay of junior Ellie Best of Portage, Michigan (Central), sophomores Sydney del Valle of Holland, Michigan (Black River), sophomore Emily Jackson of Grayling, Michigan (Grayling), and freshman Emily Sinclair of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville) came in fifth at 10:01.06.

The distance medley relay of del Valle, Sinclair, sophomore Sophia Vander Kooy of Indianapolis, Indiana (Brebeuf Jesuit) and freshman Jacinda Cole of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) was fifth at 13:19.19.

Junior Emma Johnson of Wentzville, Missouri (Wentzville) finished sixth in the pole vault after clearing 2.90 meters.

Achieng was seventh in the long jump at 4.98 meters.

Host Emory won with 144.75 points. NAIA Cedarville was runner-up with 74 points.
