Outdoor Women's Track & Field Tops Alma, Calvin In Nonleague Meet

Senior Rachael Satkiewicz of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (Seaholm HS) contributed to four first-place performances for the Hope College outdoor women's track & field team in a nonleague victory against Calvin and Alma on Thursday.

The Flying Dutch finished at Calvin with a winning score of 84 points. Calvin (35) took second, while Alma came in third.

Satkiewicz won the 200 meters with a run of 26.87 seconds. She led a 1-2 finish in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.26. Sophomore Nicole Kruithof of Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian was second at 1:03.30.

The top finishers in each individual event scored.

Satkiewicz also anchored the victorious 4x400 relay. Sophomore Chelsea Miskelley of Holland, Michigan (Black River), senior Rachael Webb of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grandville HS), Kruithof and Satkiewicz ran a time of 4:11.65.

Satkiewicz ran the third leg of the first-place 4x100 relay. Kruithof, senior Rachel Anderson of Muskegon, Michigan (Mona Shores), Satkiewicz and sophomore Mitchel Achien'g finished in 51.95.

Webb led a sweep of the 800 meters at 2:19.50. Miskelley took second at 2:21.46. Junior Ellie Best of Portage, Michigan (Central) was third at 2:24.20.

Hope went 1-2 in the 1,500 meters. Senior Alexis Guttilla of St. Charles, Illinois (Westminster Christian) placed first with a time of 4:47.22. Sophomore Alicia Bostwick of Zionsville, Indiana (Zionsville) was second at 4:57.39.

Senior Alison Rich of Haslett, Michigan (Haslett) led a 1-2 Flying Dutch effort in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:10.14. Junior Allison VanderStoep of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) was runner-up at 1:13.25.

Freshman Gretchen Koster of Falmouth, Michigan (McBain) won the discus with a top toss of 34.16 meters.

Sophomore Hannah Bredeweg of Zionsville, Michigan (Zionsville) won the triple jump with a leap of 10.06 meters. Sophomore Jamie VanderZwaag of Holland, Michigan (Black River) was third at 9.65 meters.

Senior Rachel Alfond of Snohomish, Washington (Archbishop Murphy) took first in the hammer throw with a toss of 37.72 meters.
