Women's Golf Places Third In NCAA Championship Qualifier Opening Round

Megan Klintworth carded a 4-over-76 at The Ravines Golf Club in Saugatuck on Friday to lead the Hope College women's golf team during the opening round of the MIchigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association NCAA Division III Championship qualifier.

The senior from Jackson, Michigan (Hanover-Horton HS) recorded the second-lowest round in the 19-golfer, four-team field.

The Flying Dutch finished with a team score of 340 for third place. They trail first-place Saint Mary's (318) and second-place Olivet (338). Alma (360) is fourth.

Saint Mary's will host the final two rounds on Friday-Saturday, April 27-28. The top cumulative score receives the MIAA's automatic berth to nationals.

Klintworth, pictured, was two strokes behind medalist Taylor Kehoe of Saint Mary's.

Hope received an 84 from freshman Jordyn Rioux of Farmington, Michigan (Livonia Ladywood), an 86 from freshman Abby Meder of Lansing, Michigan (Catholic Central), and a 94 from junior Ariana Stewart of Kalamazoo, Michigan (Comstock).
