Four unanswered goals to finish the first half boosted the Hope College women's lacrosse team to a 15-10 victory at Kalamazoo on Tuesday.
The Flying Dutch raised their record to 5-3 overall and 2-0 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play.
Hope is one of four MIAA teams who have yet to lose a league match. The Flying Dutch join Calvin and Saint Mary's at 2-0, while Albion is 1-0.
Freshman Jane Ragains of Western Spring, Illinois (Lyons Township), pictured, broke a 5-5 tie with 5 minutes, 46 seconds remaining in the first half. She scored twice in a span of 3:25 to put Hope ahead for good.
Freshman Paige Wilmer of Columbus, Ohio (Upper Arlington) and freshman Madison Micho of Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids) pushed the Flying Dutch lead to 9-5 by halftime.
Ragains, senior Emily Deane of Rochester Hills, Michigan (Rochester Adams), and freshman Carly Pieri of Alto, Michigan Caledonia) shared team-high honors with three goals apiece against Kalamazoo (3-5, 0-1 MIAA).
Pieri leads the Flying Dutch with 22 goals this season.
Ragains is second with 19 goals.
Goalie Laurel Frederickson of Alto, Michigan (Lowell) made five saves for Hope.
