The Hope College women's outdoor track & field team won one event and finished runner-up in four others en route to a third-place finish at the 10-team Wheaton (Illinois) Invitational on Saturday.
The Flying Dutch totaled 112 points.
Hope's 4x400 relay of sophomore Chelsea Miskelley of Holland, Michigan (Black River HS), senior Rachael Webb of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grandville), sophomore Hailey Pickelheimer of Powell, Ohio (Olentangy Liberty), and senior Rachel Satkiewicz of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (Seaholm) recorded a winning and season-best run of 4 minutes, 5.99 seconds.
Freshman Gretchen Koster took second in the discus with a toss of 31.57 meters (103 feet, 7 inches).
Koster, pictured, was third in the shot put with a heave of 9.40 meters (30-10 ¼).
Pickelheimer came in second in the 400 hurdles by clocking a season-best time of 1:06.99. Junior Allison VanderStoep of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) was fourth at 1:14.18.
Satkiewicz finished second in the 200 meters with a run of 26.65 seconds. Sophomore Mitchel
Achien'g of Nairobi, Kenya (Kisumu) was fourth at 27.08.
The 4x100 relay of sophomore Hannah Huizen, senior Rachel Anderson of Muskegon, MIchigan (Mona Shores), Satkiewicz and Achien'g placed second with a season-best time of 51.84 seconds.
Achieng came in third in the 100 meters at 12.91 seconds.
Satkiewicz took third in the 400 meters at 1:00.45.
Three Hope runners scored in the 1,500 meters: senior Alexis Guttilla of St. Charles, Illinois (Westminster Christian) in third at 4:47.70, Webb in fifth at 4:47.70, and sophomore Kelly Peregrine of Traverse City, Michigan (Central) in eighth at 5:01.27.
Three Flying Dutch scored in the 5,000 meters: sophomore Anna Frazee of Watervliet, Michigan (Home School) in third at 18:28.49, freshman Claire Muckian of St. Charles, Illinois (St. Charles) in fifth at 19:21.06, and freshman Jacinda Cole of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) in seventh at 19:29.59.
Achien'g placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 5.18 meters (17-0).
Freshman Hannah Bredeweg of Zionsville, Indiana (Zionsville) came in fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 10.10 meters (33-3 ¼).
Two Hope runners scored in the 100 hurdles: senior Alison Rich of Haslett, Michigan (Haslett) in fifth at 16.07, and Achien'g in sixth at 16.16.
Miskelley finished fourth in the 800 meters at 2:23.95.
Two Hope pole vaulters scored: sophomore Emma Johnson of Wentzville, Missouri (Timberland) in fifth at 2.93 meters (9-7 ¼) and senior Hannah Howard of Jacksonville, Illinois (Routt Catholic) in eighth at 2.63 meters (8-7 ½).
Rich took fifth in the javelin with a toss of 31.35 meters (102-10).
Sophomore Addyson Gerig of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) and VanderStoep tied for sixth in the high jump by clearing 1.42 meters (4-7 ¾).
Wisconsin-Stevens Points won with 161.5 points. Wheaton was runner-up with 143.
