Men's Tennis Drops Spring Break Finale To Luther (Iowa)

The Hope College men's tennis team dropped its final spring break match, 6-3, to Luther College (Iowa) on Saturday at the United States Tennis Association National Training Center in Orlando, Florida.

The Flying Dutchmen earned points in two singles matches and one doubles flight.

At No. 2 singles, senior Tim Roe of Bakersfield, California (Frontier HS) defeated Nate Parsons, 7-5, 6-1.

At No. 4 singles, senior Christian Rhoades of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian) rallied to beat Brian Murman, 1-6, 6-3, 10-8.

At No. 3 doubles, sophomores David Bacon of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Forest Hills Northern) and Carter Smiley of Minnetonka, Minnesota (Minnetonka) topped Grant Morton and Brook Norwood, 8-5.

Luther (6-2 overall) won two of the three flights that went to three sets.

The next match for Hope (4-7) is the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opener on Thursday, March 28 against Olivet College. Start time is 3 p.m.
