2019 HOPEYs Nominees: Role Player of the Year

* Allison VanderStoep, Women's Track & Field – VanderStoep has always been willing to do whatever it takes to make the team better. She has competed in a variety of events for the Flying Dutch to help the team. These include the 60-meter run, 100-meter run, 400-meter hurdles, high jump, 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash, and thrown the javelin. VanderStoep is always supportive of her teammates and is a great encourager.

* Jake Honer, Men's Basketball – Honer is the epitome of a 'team-first' player. He was always fully ready and engaged to compete for the Flying Dutchmen whenever he was called upon. Honer understood and bought into doing whatever the team needed him to do. He showed up every day to practice and elevated the play of everyone around him with his infectious attitude and work ethic.

* Emma DuMez, Volleyball - DuMez is a selfless leader who built a relationship with every player in the volleyball program. She poured herself into her teammates by showing faithful love and holding them accountable to a championship mindset on a daily basis.

* Luke Stehney, Football – As a senior, Stehney's contributions to the team goes beyond his performance on the field through special teams and from his Defensive Line position. Off the field, he was a difference-maker with his role as a Title IX Representative and STEP Educator for the Flying Dutchmen.

* David Bacon, Men's Tennis – During his freshman season in 2018, Bacon was the heart and soul of the men's team. He played a vocal role off the court and in practice to encourage and support his teammates.

* Brad Kotenko, Baseball – Kotenko comes to practice to work hard every day and make the team better. He has seen limited playing time in the outfield, yet does whatever is asked of him. He continues to provide leadership in the dug-out and in the clubhouse for the Flying Dutchmen.

* Paige Rosenbrook, Women's Lacrosse – As a freshman, Rosenbrook was a servant leader for the Flying Dutch. She practiced with passion and intention, spoke the truth to teammates and coaches, and brought bold and creative thinking. Every day, Rosenbrook brought her best attitude and effort to make the biggest differences to the team by being a positive influencer.

* Andrew Pavey, Men's Lacrosse – Pavey switched positions when he came to Hope and does whatever it takes to make the team successful. He has an outstanding work ethic and is often the last one off the field after taking extra shooting practice. Pavey is a team motivator.
