2019 HOPEYs Nominees: Female Athlete of the Year

* Amanda Bandrowski, Women's Tennis – Playing No. 1 singles for the Flying Dutch in 2018, Bandrowski finished the season with an 18-9 record (8-0 in MIAA play). She also played No. 2 doubles for Hope and compiled a 17-10 record (8-0 in MIAA play). Bandrowski received All-MIAA First Team honors and was named the MIAA Most Valuable Player. She was selected as the first alternate to compete at the 2018 NCAA Division III Tennis Championships.

* Meghan Peel, Women's Swimming & Diving – In her sophomore season, Peel was national runner-up in the 200-yard backstroke and finished ninth in the 100-yard backstroke at the 2019 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships. Her time in the 200-yard backstroke ranks 10th all-time in Division III in the event. At the MIAA Swimming & Diving Championships, Peel was named the MIAA Most Valuable Swimmer after winning three individual events and three relays at the 2019 MIAA Swimming & Diving Championships. She set two individual records for the Flying Dutch in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke along with two relay records in the 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard medley relay. Peel received All-American honors for her performances this season.

* Hayley Reitsma, Softball – During the 2018 season, Reitsma was unanimously named the MIAA Player of the Year. She finished the year hitting .413 with five doubles, seven triples, 13 home runs and nine stolen bases. In conference play, Reitsma had a hit in all 16 league games for a batting average of .574. As a catcher, Reitsma concluded her career throwing out more baserunners than any catcher in Hope softball history. Reitsma was recognized as a First Team All-Region player.

* Rylie Dalton, Women's Soccer – Dalton started all 21 games for the Flying Dutch. She scored nine goals, six of which were game winning goals, and compiled three assists on the season. She was named to the All-MIAA First Team and recognized as the MIAA Most Valuable Player. Dalton also received All-Region First Team honors as she helped Hope reach the fourth round of the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time in program history.

* Francesca Buchanan, Women's Basketball – Buchanan started all 29 games this season, averaging 23.1 minutes per game. She averaged a team-leading 14.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game this season while leading the Flying Dutch to a 24-5 record. Buchanan finished her career second all-time among Hope scorers with 1,476 points and seventh among rebounds with 710. She was named to the All-MIAA First Team for the third consecutive year and received All-Region Second Team honors from D3hoops.com.

* Jordyn Rioux, Women's Golf – As a sophomore, Rioux played in the No. 1 position for the Flying Dutch all season, bringing in the lowest stroke average for the team. She averaged 81.6 strokes in MIAA competition this fall and received All-MIAA Second Team honors. Rioux finished the fall season with the ninth-lowest average among league golfers.

* Emily Hamilton, Women's Cross Country and Track & Field – Hamilton capped off her senior cross country season qualifying for the NCAA Division III meet with the team for the fourth consecutive year. As a captain, she led the Flying Dutch to four straight MIAA Cross Country Championships. Hamilton was named to the All-MIAA First Team and received All-Region and Academic All-American honors. In the 2018 track season, Hamilton was recognized as an All-Region runner and played a key role on the MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship team.
