Presented to the Hope College male athlete deemed to be the most exceptional in a given year.
* Rocco Mularoni, Men's Lacrosse – In the 2018 season, Mularoni recorded a career-high 53 goals and 22 assists while leading the Flying Dutchmen to their first MIAA regular-season title and a 15-2 overall record. The 53 goals and 75 points are both the second-most ever by a Hope men's lacrosse athlete in a single varsity season. Mularoni was named the MIAA Offensive Most Valuable Player, received All-MIAA First Team Honors and was honored as an honorable mention all-region player.
* Isaac Braak, Men's Soccer – Braak started all 18 games for the Flying Dutchmen this season and tallied five goals and seven assists, both are career highs. He was a key player in the midfield and helped Hope finish the year with a 14-3-1 record. Braak was named to the All-MIAA First Team and received first-team, All-Central Region honors from the United Soccer Coaches.
* Jason Beckman, Men's Basketball – Beckman concluded his two-year Hope career with 1,132 points. In 24 games this season, he averaged 20.3 points per game and was the second leading scorer in the MIAA. Beckman scored a season-high 38 points against Alma at DeVos Fieldhouse. He received All-MIAA Second Team honors and was named to the All-Region Second Team with D3hoops.com.
* Joshua Gibson, Men's Golf – Gibson received the Jack Nicklaus Award in June of 2018, as the NCAA Division III National Player of the Year. He averaged 70.5 strokes per round over 21 rounds during the 2017-18 season while leading the Flying Dutchmen to a program-best, sixth place finish at the NCAA Championships. This fall, averaged a league record 69.0 strokes over 108 holes of MIAA play. Gibson was named to the All-MIAA First Team and received the MIAA Most Valuable Golfer for the third consecutive season
* Dan Clyde, Men's Swimming & Diving – At the 2019 MIAA Swimming & Diving Championships, Clyde posted the fastest time in MIAA history in the 400-yard individual medley and won the event, finishing in a time of 3:57.14. He also set the Hope record in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:50.87. Clyde capped off his championship performance by winning the 200-yard butterfly on the final day of the meet. He received All-MIAA First Team honors.
* Mason Opple, Football and Baseball – As a quarterback, Opple was named to the All-MIAA First Team after passing for 1,033 yards and 10 touchdowns during MIAA games while rushing for a team-best 738 yards and 12 touchdowns. Opple threw just one interception in 131 attempts against league opponents. He had a completion percentage of 64.1 percent (84-131). On the baseball team, Opple played in all 42 games in the 2018 season and finished the year with a .333 batting average. He received All-MIAA Second Team honors last spring.
