2019 HOPEYs Nominees: MIAA Championship Performance

Presented to the Hope College team deemed to have the best or most significant performance in a MIAA Championship match, series, or tournament in a given year.

* Men's Lacrosse – For the first time in program history, the Flying Dutchmen won the 2018 MIAA regular-season championship after putting up a 7-0 league record. Five players were named to the All-MIAA First Team, including the league MVP, and six more received All-MIAA Second Team honors. Hope finished the year with a 15-2 record which ranked fifth in the NCAA for winning percentage.

* Women's Swimming & Diving – The Flying Dutch won the 2019 MIAA Swimming & Diving Championship for the first time since 2004. Hope edged defending-champion Calvin by 17 points over the course of the three-and-half day meet. The Flying Dutch swam to nine individual titles, three relay wins, seven NCAA B-cut marks, and three school records on their way to the MIAA title.

* Women's Cross Country – Hope clocked six of the 12 fastest times at the 2018 MIAA Cross Country Championships to win their fourth consecutive MIAA title. The Flying Dutch won the meet with 32 points, 25 points ahead of runner-up Calvin. The women finished with six All-MIAA honorees.

* Softball – After losing their first game of the 2018 MIAA Tournament and playing in a double-elimination tournament, Hope needed four straight wins to claim the tournament crown. The final three wins came on the final day of the tournament as Hope beat Calvin 4-1 and then went on to beat Saint Mary's 6-2, and again 4-2. These wins secured the MIAA Tournament Championship for Hope for the first time in 12 years and advanced the Flying Dutch to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

* Men's Tennis – In 2018, Hope won the MIAA Tournament Championship for the first time in more than two decades. The Flying Dutchmen beat Calvin 5-1 to secure the victory and clinch a bid to the NCAA National Tournament. Hope swept all three flights for doubles and won #2 singles and #4 singles.

* Women's Soccer – For the third consecutive year, the Flying Dutch won the MIAA regular-season championship. They finished the league season with a record of 7-0-1. Hope completed MIAA play with an 18-1 edge in goals and saw three team members receive All-MIAA First Team honors as well as three Second Team honors and the league's Most Valuable Player.

* Men's Golf – The Flying Dutchmen reclaimed the MIAA Title this fall, finishing 52 strokes ahead of runner-up Calvin. Hope finished the fall season with a six-round total of 1708 for an MIAA-record average of 286.3 strokes. This shattered Hope's previous MIAA record for a six-round average of 293.3 in 2016.

* Women's Tennis – In the 2018 MIAA Tournament Championship, the Flying Dutch swept Calvin 5-0. This victory secured their seventh consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III tournament and 13th overall.

* Women's Track & Field – The Flying Dutch won the 2018 MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships for the fifth time in team history. Hope posted a winning score of 179 points, only 4.5 points ahead of runner-up Calvin. Over the course of the two-day meet, Hope won three individual titles and finished runner-up in six different events.
