Men's Basketball Suffers Senior Day Loss to Kalamazoo

The Hope College men's basketball team lost to Kalamazoo College, 91-72, on Saturday at DeVos Fieldhouse in the final regular-season home game.

Prior to the game, the Flying Dutchmen honored four seniors: Mason Opple of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville HS), guard Matt Zandstra of Schererville, Indiana (Illiana Christian), student assistant coach Jordan Corstange and student assistant coach Drew Hewitt.

The Flying Dutchmen fell to 11-12 overall and 4-7 in MIAA play. They are in sixth place in the MIAA standings.

Junior forward Preston Granger of Lansing, Michigan (Lansing Christian HS) scored 18 points to lead Hope.

Freshman forward Evan Thomas of Okemos, Michigan (Okemos) added 15 points.

Guard Tanner Blyly led five Hornets in double figures with 19 points. Kalamazoo (6-17, 3-8 MIAA) shot 53.6 percent from the field (30-of-56) and 50 percent from 3-point range (10-20).

Hope's next game is Wednesday, February 19 at Alma College. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m.
