Cameron Coates Claims Two Points for Men's Tennis in Loss to Earlham

Cameron Coates earned two points for the Hope College men's tennis team during a 6-3 loss to Earlham College (Indiana) on Saturday in Miamisburg, Ohio.

The freshman from Stevensville, Michigan (Laurel Springs HS) won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 against Earlham's Dan Garcia.

At No. 1 doubles, Coates teamed with senior Danny Kroeze of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian) for an 8-4 victory against Earlham's Leonard Harms and Jason Lawson.

Hope also received a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles from freshman Tyler Stafford of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grand Rapids Christian) against Earlham's Abdul Khurshid.

In Saturday's first match, Hope lost to Wittenberg University (Ohio), 5-1, in a match that was played to decision.

Kroeze won at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-2, against Wittenberg's Gavin Tay.

Hope (1-6) returns to action on Friday, March 6 with matches against College of Wooster (Ohio) and Denison University (Ohio) in Wooster, Ohio.
