Abby Meder, Women's Golf — Meder is a junior Biology and Psychology double-major with plans to become a Genetic Counselor. She is a three-year starter for the Flying Dutch and has been named to the All-MIAA team every season. Meder also has received Academic All American honors all three years. She serves on campus through ACT/SAAC and volunteers in the community at Resthaven with the Mind and Memory Program. Meder was a client advocate at Positive Options (pregnancy center), Crisis Text Line volunteer, and Helping Minds Club Vice President. She traveled to Costa Rica in summer 2019 with the SEED program.
Megan Bigelow, Women's Soccer — A two-time captain and three year starter for the women's soccer team, Bigelow is a senior majoring in Business. She played in the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament in three of her four seasons and helped propel the team to a Sweet 16 finish in 2018. Off the field, Bigelow is involved in ACT/SAAC, is a member of the Business Club, and volunteers for Resilience. She also is an academic tutor and volunteers at the Boys & Girls Club. Bigelow participated in a SEED trip to Ghana and has a job waiting for her with Sawyer Products after graduation.
Emma Schaefer, Women's Swimming & Diving — During her junior season Schaefer set two school records and was named the MVP for the league at the 2020 MIAA Swimming & Diving Championship. She qualified for the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championship by posting the 20th fastest time in the nation in the 200-yard individual medley. Schaefer traveled to Zambia in 2019 with the SEED program, is involved in Athletes in Action, and leads a Bible study. She serves as a group tutor for biology classes and is a member of AED (Alpha Epsilon Delta), a student group with a passion for healthcare. In the Holland community, Schaefer volunteers at Holland Hospital and works at Freedom Village. She is an Exercise Science major.
Julianna Burlet, Women's Lacrosse — Burlet is a senior majoring in Education. During the 2019 lacrosse season, Burlet earned All-MIAA First Team honors as she topped the league with 29 caused turnovers during MIAA games. She also collected 27 ground balls against MIAA teams which ranked ninth-most in the league. Burlet earned IWLCA All-Academic honors. She participated in the SEED program in the summer of 2017 and traveled to Costa Rica and studied abroad in Chile during the fall 2019 semester. Burlet has also volunteered as a middle school youth group leader at Pillar Church.
Gabbi Vachon, Volleyball — Vachon is a senior Exercise Science major. She has been a critical part of the Flying Dutch defence for the last four years and was named All-MIAA Second Team in her senior season. Vachon studied abroad in Scotland and participated in the SEED program in 2019 where she traveled to Costa Rica. She has performed research on campus and has been engaged with internships in the community. Vachon is active in serving with Athletes and Action and Young Life.
Amanda Diaz, Softball — Diaz is a senior majoring in Business with minors in Psychology and Spanish. She is captain of the softball team and was a member of the 2018 Flying Dutch team that finished with a 34-12 record for the most wins in school history. Diaz is a member of the Psi Chi Honor Society and serves on the Executive Board as a historian for Mortar Board. She traveled with the SEED program in 2018 to Zambia and has been involved in Campus Ministries Bible Studies. Additionally, Diaz is in the Hope Student-Athlete Mentorship program and is active on the HOPEYS Committee. She volunteers as a peer tutor, served as an Orientation Assistant, and participated in Miracle League with the softball team.
Nicole Kruithof, Women's Track & Field — A senior Social Work major, Kruithof is a captain for the Flying Dutch. She helped lead the team to the 2020 MIAA Indoor Track & Field and the 2019 MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Team titles. At the outdoor championship, Kruithof was a member of the winning 4x400-meter relay which finished five seconds ahead of second place. Kruithof traveled to Costa Rica with the SEED program in 2018 and studied off-campus in Alaska in 2019. She has been a member of ACT/SAAC and serves as the Hope representative to the MIAA. Kruithof is also an executive board member of SWORG, a student-led sociology and social work organization, and is the president of Phi Alpha, the National Social Work Honors Society. In the community, she volunteers with the Holland Rescue Mission after school program and at Benjamin's Hope Club Connect.
