Danny Kroeze, Men's Tennis — Kroeze competed for the Flying Dutchmen all four years at the top of the line up. He played at 1-3 singles and 1-3 doubles during his time and earned All-MIAA First Team honors his sophomore season. On campus, Kroeze was a member of ACT/SAAC and also served as the team representative for Dance Marathon. Additionally, he worked with Big Brothers, Big Sisters and helped with Adaptive Tennis Day where he taught the game of tennis to local community members with disabilities. Kroeze is a senior majoring in Business.
Marshall VanBelkum, Men's Lacrosse — VanBelkum helped the Flying Dutchmen to their first MIAA Tournament victory and NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse tournament appearance in 2019. Over the course of his career, he has been named the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week twice and earned MIAA Academic Honor Roll accolades every season. On campus, VanBelkum is a member of the Business Club and a leader in the "It's On Us" efforts to raise awareness of bystander intervention strategies for a safer college environment for students. He is a senior majoring in Business and Economics.
CJ Otteman, Baseball — A senior majoring in Psychology, Otteman helped the Flying Dutchmen to a record-setting season in 2019 as the team won 31 games. This was the first time in program history that a team posted more than 30 wins. As a pitcher, Otteman made 18 appearances, pitched 27.2 innings, and had an ERA of 3.90. He serves as a YoungLife leader for West Ottawa and is engaged with the Hope Athletics ministry team. Otteman also volunteers with Kids Hope and Kids Food Basket and spends time reading with kids in local elementary schools. He traveled to Zambia in 2018 with the SEED program.
Jager Haan, Men's Track & Field — Haan is a senior Biology major with plans to attend Michigan State University's College of Human Medicine to begin medical school next year. He is a key member of the Flying Dutchmen team, competing in javelin and long jump. Haan traveled to Zambia in 2017 with SEED and has coordinated follow-up events for other student-athletes in the program. He is involved with Campus Ministries as a small group leader and has led Immersion Trips to Nashville. Additionally, he was a Designated Group Representative (DGR) with Dance Marathon at Hope and served as a member of ACT/SAAC. Haan also volunteers at the Holland Free Health Clinic.
Mason Dekker, Football — As a captain for the Flying Dutchmen, Dekker helped lead the team to a MIAA Championship. He was an All-MIAA First Team selection, the MIAA Defensive Player of the Year and received All-American Second Team honors. Dekker was awarded the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team Award which recognizes college football student-athletes who make outstanding contributions in the areas of volunteerism and civic involvement. Off the field, Dekker has volunteered at Camp Sunshine and is involved with Dance Marathon. He is an education major and plans to be a social studies teacher after graduation.
Daniel Settecerri, Men's Golf — Settecerri is a senior Biology major. He is a captain for the Flying Dutchmen and has contributed to the success of the team over the last four years. In his career, he has been named to the All-MIAA team in three seasons and is a two-time NCAA Division III PING All-Region recipient. Settecerri is involved in the Hope Community as mentor for the Academic Success Center and by leading a small group Bible study. He participated in the SEED program in 2018 and traveled to Uganda. In the Holland area, Settecerri serves as a mentor for elementary and middle school students at Christ Memorial Church, volunteers at the Holland Free Health Clinic, Hospice of Holland, and in the CASA summer program.
