2020 HOPEYs Nominees: Role Player of the Year

Nathaniel Trumble, Men's Track & Field — Trumble is always willing to step in and compete in the sprint events wherever is needed. He has raced in the 60-meter, 100-meter, 200-meter, 400-meter runs, and the 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relays. Trumble plays a key role for the Flying Dutchmen with his ability to run in a variety of events.

Jess Moorman, Women's Basketball — Moorman played a big role off the bench for the Flying Dutch this year after not playing much during her sophomore season. She always brought positive energy to the team. Moorman was able to play three positions, guard anyone on the floor, and made significant improvements to her offense which made her a dual threat.

Kevin Hazen, Football — Hazen played on every special team unit for the Flying Dutchmen and saw playing time in almost every game possible. He was an inspirational leader for the younger players and was named the Allan Kinney award winner by the coaching staff for his contributions to the Hope Football program.

MeKenna VanKoevering, Women's Soccer — VanKoevering joined the women's soccer team her sophomore year in 2018 and worked very hard but saw limited playing time. This season, she was a steady contributor coming off the bench to lift the play of the midfield. VanKoevering scored her first collegiate goal to help the Flying Dutch defeat the first place team in the MIAA.

Adam Bell, Men's Lacrosse — Bell specializes in the man-down defensive unit for the Flying Dutchmen. When a starter gets a penalty, Bell comes out on the field and plays a key role for the team's penalty kill.

Jackson Uyl, Men's Swimming & Diving — Over the course of the season, Uyl improved significantly to play a key role for the Flying Dutchmen at the 2020 MIAA Swimming & Diving Championships. He dropped time in his events to swim in the championship heat of the 50-yard freestyle. Uyl's swims also created additional opportunities for scoring at the league championship.
