Men's Soccer Ties Kalamazoo, Claims No. 3 Seed for MIAA Tournament

The Hope College men's soccer team played Kalamazoo College to a scoreless draw on Wednesday in the regular-season finale.

With a 4-1-2 league record, the Flying Dutchmen finished third in the MIAA standings. 

Daniel Hesselbein poses for a headshot photo Hope (10-3-3 overall) will host sixth-seeded Olivet College (4-10-1, 2-4-1) in an MIAA Tournament quarterfinal on Saturday, Oct. 30, at 6 p.m. at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.

The Hope-Olivet winner will advance to the Wednesday, Nov. 3 quarterfinal at No. 2 seeded Kalamazoo (10-3-3, 5-1-1).

MIAA Tournament Information

Against Kalamazoo, freshman goalkeeper Daniel Hesselbein (Barrington, Illinois / Barrington Community), pictured, made three saves for the Flying Dutchmen, including two in the second half.

Hope recorded the only one shot on goal during the two 10-minute overtime periods.

Kalamazoo outshot the Flying Dutchmen by a 10-7 margin.

The Hornets recorded five of the second half's six shots.
