Updated Spectator Policy for Hope Athletic Events

Hope College welcomes the ability to safely host patrons at our athletic events during the COVID-19 pandemic. In recent weeks, Hope College and the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association have released new restricted spectator policies for athletic events.  

Below is a summary and link to the attendance policies for each venue.  At each venue the following policies must be adhered to:

  • 24 hours prior to competition, the teams' head coaches will provide the Hope College Ticket Office with the name of each student-athlete/coach and their designated family members for that day. Only those family members listed for that day will be admitted.
  • General public and Hope College employees are not permitted at this time.
  • Gates or doors will open 30 minutes prior to contest time.
  • Face coverings fitting securely over the nose and mouth must be worn at all times.
  • Fans must sit in marked seats and designated sections (where applicable).
  • No food or drink will be permitted, there are no concessions. 
  • All fans must exit immediately after the contest and have no interaction with student-athletes, coaches or event staff.

DeVos Fieldhouse (Basketball and Volleyball)

  • 4 tickets for home team student-athletes and coaches
  • 2 tickets for visiting team student-athletes and coaches
  • A limited number of current Hope College students may attend

Van Andel Stadium (Men's and Women's Soccer and Women's Lacrosse)

  • 4 tickets for home team student-athletes and coaches
  • 2 tickets for visiting team student-athletes and coaches
  • A limited number of current Hope College students may attend

Smith Stadium (Men's Lacrosse)

  • 4 tickets for home team student-athletes and coaches
  • 2 tickets for visiting team student-athletes and coaches
  • A limited number of current Hope College students may attend

Boeve Stadium (Baseball)

  • 4 tickets for home team student-athletes and coaches
  • 2 tickets for visiting team student-athletes and coaches
  • A limited number of current Hope College students may attend

Wolters Stadium (Softball)

  • 4 tickets for home team student-athletes and coaches
  • 2 tickets for visiting team student-athletes and coaches
  • A limited number of current Hope College students may attend

VandePoel-Heeringa Stadium Courts (Men's and Women's Tennis, Outdoors)

  • 4 tickets for home team student-athletes and coaches
  • 2 tickets for visiting team student-athletes and coaches
  • No current Hope College students are permitted to attend.

The policies and procedures detailed in the links above have been developed to ensure the safety of all student-athletes, coaches, game officials, the greater Holland and Hope College communities, as well as any others in attendance at the event. They are guided by direction from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA), Ottawa County Department of Public Health (OCDPH), the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) and other relevant Hope College policies and procedures.

Hope College reserves the sole and final right to refuse entry or disqualify from attendance any person that does not comply with these policies/procedures or the direction of a Hope College representative. Any person who refuses to comply or is otherwise disqualified from attendance may be refused entry to future Hope College events.
