Hope College's Paul Washington has been selected as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week.
The sophomore business major from Dearborn, Michigan (Dearborn HS) is receiving the honor for the first time after winning five of his matches last week.
On April 6, Washington won against Calvin University at No. 5 singles 6-4, 4-6 11-9, and at No. 2 doubles with partner Tyler Stafford, 8-4. The Flying Dutchmen took the match, 8-4.
On Friday, Washington moved up to No. 1 doubles with partner Matt Henkel to help Hope defeat Olivet College, 9-0.
On Saturday, Washington earned two points during the Flying Dutchmen's 5-4, non-league loss to Augustana College (Illinois) by winning 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5 singles and 8-4 at No. 2 doubles with Stafford.
