Women's Soccer Ends Spring Season With Loss in MIAA Semifinals at Kalamazoo

The Hope College women's soccer team closed the 2021 spring season with a 2-0 loss at Kalamazoo College on Tuesday in the semifinals of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament.

The Flying Dutch finished with a 4-2-1 overall record.

Third-seeded Hope looked to repeat the outcome of an April 12 1-0 victory at Kalamazoo during the regular season.

Kalamazoo (5-2 overall) delivered the first-half strike this time with Kai Ketola's goal in the 28th minute. 

The second-seeded Hornets controlled possession during the first half, outshooting Hope by a 6-2 margin.

Destiny Garcia scored for Kalamazoo in the 61st minute off an assist from Ketola.

Hope picked up the pressure in the second half and finished with 10 shots. The Flying Dutch had one attempt late in the second half hit off the crossbar.

Kalamazoo advanced to the MIAA Tournament final at top-seeded Calvin University on Friday, April 23.
