The Hope College women's golf team finished its season with an atypical round on Saturday. Not competing in the usual stroke-play format but instead mixing Ryder Cup-like rules over 18 holes against Calvin University, the Flying Dutch bested the Knights, 315-347, at Clearbrook Golf Course.
"It's the second year we've competed this way against Calvin, and it was just a fun way to end the season," said head coach Greg Stafford. "It was so nice to have a fun like that and to celebrate (seniors) Abby (Meder) and Jordyn's (Rioux) last round with us."
Pairs from each team competed in six holes of alternate shot, six holes of best ball, and six holes of scramble on the par-72 course in Saugatuck, Michigan.
The No. 1 Hope pair of Abigail Meder and Jordyn Rioux defeated Calvin's Emma Dykhouse and Kaylee Hirschman, 76-79.
The No. 2 Hope pair of Megan Radaz and Grace VanDellen edged Calvin's Georgie Scholtens and Amanda Scholten, 76-77.
The No. 3 Hope pair of Emlin Munch and Megan Jenkinson topped Calvin's McKenna Smith and Katherine Lamer, 80-99.
The No. 4 Hope pair of Rita Cheney and Lexi Miller beat Calvin's Brandi Statema and Anna Johnson, 83-92.
