Three members of the Hope College women's outdoor track and field team raced at the North Central College Gregory Final NCAA Qualifier on Wednesday and Thursday — in one last attempt to better their season-best times and move up in the region rankings.
Senior Jacinda Cole (Holland, Michigan / West Ottawa) paced the Flying Dutch in the 1,500 meters, placing second overall behind a time of 4 minutes, 43.76 seconds.
Senior Hannah Kenny (Grand Haven, Michigan / Grand Haven) joined Cole in the 1,500, crossing the finish line at the 5:09.68 mark for fifth place.
Though both Cole and Kenny did not better their season-best times, they still rank in a fifth and sixth, respectively, in the regional standings.
Rebecca Markham (Hoffman Estates, Illinois / William Fremd) ran in the 10,000-meter race for the first time this season and delivered impressive results. The freshman posted a time of 39:24.30, ranking 21st in the Great Lakes Region this season.
Qualifiers for the 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships will be announced via press release on NCAA.com on Friday, May 21. The championships are scheduled for May 27-29 in Greensboro, N.C.
