On a highly windy day at Duck Lake Country Club in Albion, Michigan, the Hope College women's golf team continued its strong start to the 2021 season.
The Flying Dutch won the first MIAA Jamboree of the fall hosted by Albion College on Tuesday. With a team total of 320, the victory is Hope's fourth in as many events.
Calvin University was the second-place team with 326 while Adrian College and Olivet College tied for third with 334 strokes.
Grace VanDellen, pictured, continues to find ways to keep going lower than she ever has before. The junior from Oxford, Michigan (Lutheran Northwest) fired a career-best 74. The three-over-par round put her in second place individually.
Senior Megan Jenkinson of Traverse City, Michigan (Traverse City West) was Hope's next low scorer by turning in a round of 76 that landed her in fourth place.
Hope's other scores included an 84 by sophomore Abby Fansler of Muskegon, Michigan (Reeths-Puffer); an 86 by sophomore Emlin Munch of Traverse City (Traverse City Central); and, an 89 by senior Megan Radaz of Alma, Michigan (Alma).
Playing as individuals, sophomore Abby Derocher of Farmington Hills, Michigan (Farmington Hills North) carded an 85, and senior Lexi Miller of Bremen, Indiana (Bremen) recorded a 95.
The Flying Dutch will compete against Calvin University on Saturday, Sept. 18 in a Ryder-Cup-style format round at Clearbrook Country Club. Tee off is 2 p.m.
