Hope College Football student-athletes are wearing special jerseys for the Purple Community Game against Northwestern (Minnesota) on Saturday, Sept. 25.
The kickoff is 12 p.m. at Ray and Sue Smith Stadium.
Names have been purchased for the back of the Flying Dutchmen's jerseys that are in memory of or in honor of loved ones and friends impacted by cancer and other neurological diseases.
Purple Community, Van Andel Institute's grassroots fundraising and awareness program, connects individuals, schools, teams, and businesses to the resources needed to support groundbreaking cancer and Parkinson's disease research. Since the program began in 2009, Purple Community events have raised more than $4.9 million for Van Andel Institute.
