Women's Cross Country Places 24th at Pre-National Meet

Sophomore Maddy Struck

A split-squad Hope College women's cross country team placed 24th out of 36 teams at the Pre-National Meet, hosted by Olivet College, in East Lansing, Michigan.

Sophomore Maddy Struck (Hainesville, Illinois / Grayslake Central) topped the Flying Dutch with a 122nd-place, 6K effort of 24 minutes, 15.9 seconds at Forest Akers Golf Course, site of the NCAA Division III Championships in November. Hope finished with 679 points.

Senior Emily Unger (Montague, Michigan / Montague) took 146th with a time of 24:32.2.

In the Open Division, the Flying Dutch finished eighth out of 11 teams with 213 points.

Junior Katie Cole (Batavia, Illinois / Batavia) clocked the fastest time at 26:02.8 and finished 32nd.

Freshman Lily Kieft (Birmingham, Michigan (Eton Academy) recorded a run of 26:15.1 for 38th place.
