Three from Hope College have been chosen as MIAA Athletes of the Week in their respective sports: junior Will Robson in men's golf, sophomore Sullivan Moran in women's tennis, and sophomore Connor Vachon in men's cross country.
Robson (East Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Grand Rapids HS) is receiving the honor for the first time this season and the second time in his career. He shared the award with Trine University's Mark Cinavich.
Robson averaged 72.5 strokes over 36 holes last week while helping the Flying Dutchmen win the first two MIAA Jamboree of the season. Robson fired a 1-under 70 at Pine River Country Club to earn co-medalist honors with Cinavich.
Moran (Birmingham, Michigan / Wylie E. Groves) is receiving the honor for the first time this season and the second time in her career.
In singles play, Moran reached the consolation draw Round of 16 of the ITA Tournament last weekend in St. Louis, Mo, before losing by two points in a third set to Case Western Reserve.
In doubles, Moran made it with partner
Amanda Lopykinski to the main draw quarterfinals and finished in the top eight after defeating Denison's No. 1 doubles team, who was seeded third, in the Round of 16.
Vachon (Jenison, Michigan / Jenison) is claiming MIAA Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season and his career.
The computer science and education major led the Flying Dutchmen at the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday with a 8K time of 24 minutes, 50.4 seconds that was good for 25th place.
