The Hope College women's golf team has completed the MIAA Fall Finish weekend in a tie for third place with Alma College, each with 675 total points after two days.Â
With finishing third place in the overall standings, the Flying Dutch qualified for the MIAAÂ NCAA Division III Championships Qualifier next spring.
Adrian College clinched the Fall Finish weekend win with 647 strokes, and Saint Mary's College finished second with 655. The Bulldogs also won the MIAA season championship with a total of 1,921, while Saint Mary's recorded a second place finish for the season with 1,941. Hope came in third place with 1,995. Alma College completed the top four with a total of 2,035 and will join the other top three teams at the MIAA AQ Tournament in the spring.Â
Junior Emlin Munch (Traverse City, Michigan / Central HS) led the Flying Dutch on day two at Bedford Valley Country Club with a 79, tying for sixth place, for a two-day total of 163, while senior Grace VanDellen (Oxford, Michigan / Lutheran Northwest) recorded an 83, tying for twelfth place, on Saturday for a 166 total.Â
Senior Rita Cheney (Mason, Michigan / Mason) matched the score of 83 on day two, bringing her total to 171 after 36 holes, and Lauren Sass (Bloomfield, Michigan / Marian) fired an 87 on the second set of 18 holes, giving her a total score of 175.Â
Abby Fansler (Muskegon, Michigan / Reeths-Puffer) carded an 88 on Saturday to bring her total score to 185.Â
Sara Muir (Ada, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) and Sarah Owens (Charlotte, Michigan / Charlotte) both played as individuals in round two, with Muir shooting an 89 and Owen grabbing an 85.Â
Munch and VanDellen both earned All-MIAA Second Team honors for their excellent play throughout the MIAA Jamborees. Munch finished 10th overall and VanDellen in 12th.
