The Hope College women's country team is heading to East Lansing, Michigan, this weekend to compete at the NCAA Division III Championships.
Led by head coach Mark Northuis and Great Lakes Regional champion Ana Tucker, the Flying Dutch received an at-large berth to the meet on Saturday, Nov. 19, at Michigan State University's Forest Akers Golf Course.Â
The women's 6K race will begin at 11 a.m.
This is Hope's 19th trip to the NCAA Championships as a team and the 12th in a row.Â
The Flying Dutch are coming off a third-place finish at the Great Lakes Regional at Three Fires Golf Club in Holland.Â
Tucker (Midland, Michigan | H.H. Dow) won the race by 20 seconds.Â
Three of Tucker's teammates also claimed all-region honors: senior Ellie Jankowski (Granger, Indiana / Penn), junior
Rebecca Markham (Hoffman Estates, Illinois / William Fremd), and senior
Anna Mason (Zeeland, Michigan / Libertas Christian).
Thirty-two teams were selected to participate in each championship. The top seven-person team automatically qualified from each of the 10 regions, for a total of 10 teams. Twenty-two additional teams were selected at-large.
Seventy individuals, the first seven student-athletes from each region who are not a part of a qualifying team, were selected to participate in each championship. The list of advancing teams and individuals is outlined below.
Olivet College and the Greater Lansing Sports Authority are hosting the championships Nov. 19Â at Forest Akers East Golf Course on the campus of Michigan State University in Lansing, Michigan.Â
A live webstream of the championships will occur on www.NCAA.com beginning at 11 a.m. Eastern until the conclusion of the awards ceremony
