The Hope College ice hockey team scored six consecutive times en route to a 7-2 victory against Rowan University (N.J.) on Friday on home ice at Griff's IceHouse West.

The second-ranked Flying Dutchmen improved their ACHA record to 16-1 overall.

Hope trailed 1-0 after Rowan struck 1 minute, 25 seconds into the second period, but evened the score quickly.

Three minutes later, sophomore defenseman Casen Faustyn (Okemos, Michigan / Okemos HS) recorded the first on a team-best two goals off assists from senior left wing Colin Stecco (East Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Grand Rapids) and freshman defenseman Austin Ieuter (Midland, Michigan / H.H. Dow).

Faustyn's first goal of the season sparked the Flying Dutchmen to a 6-1 lead by the 5 ½ minute mark of the third period.

Senior center Gabe Gunneson (Rockford, Michigan / Forest Hills Northern) put Hope ahead, 2-1, at the 8:29 mark after Stecco and Ieuter set him up. Ieuter finished with a team-best three assists.

Junior right wing Jacob Adams (East Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Grand Rapids) scored with five minutes remaining in the second period.

The Flying Dutchmen then opened the third period with goals from sophomore defenseman Nolan Holtrop (Walker, Michigan / Kenowa HIlls) 1 ½ minute in, freshman forward Hunter Maschke (Portage, Michigan / Portage Central) two minutes later and Faustyn at the 5:35 mark.

Sophomore goalie Maclane Schick (Kohler, Wisconsin / Kohler) made 14 saves for Hope.

The Flying Dutchmen are idle for the next month before returning to the ice on Friday-Saturday, Jan. 13-14, with a two-game series against Davenport University.
