Jacob Burkett won his second consecutive match at No. 1 singles for the Hope College men's tennis team during a 7-2 loss to Aquinas College on Friday at DeWitt Tennis Center.
The junior from Clarkston, Michigan (Clarkston HS) and reigning Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association MVP defeated Joel Hancox, 7-5, 6-2.
Burkett is now 2-1 in singles matches this spring and 4-3 overall.
The Flying Dutchmen earned their second point against Aquinas at No. 6 singles.
Senior Tyler Koran (Salinas, California / Salinas) defeated Jackson VanBergern, 6-0, 6-1.
Hope (1-3) returns to action on Friday, Feb. 18, at 4 p.m. against Cornerstone University at DeWitt Tennis Center.
