Hope College's Evan Thomas is the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week.
The junior guard from Okemos, Michigan (Okemos HS) is receiving the honor for the fifth time this season and his career.
Thomas averaged 21.0 points and 11.5 rebounds over two Flying Dutchmen victories last week, one that clinched a share of the MIAA regular season title, and one that gave them the outright ownership of it.
The biology major shot 66.7 percent from the field (6-9), and 92.9 percent from foul line (12-14) in the win over Calvin University on Wednesday. Thomas scored a team-high 25 points and also led the charge with 10 rebounds.
During a 71-55 win at home versus Kalamazoo on Saturday, Thomas scored another team-high 17 points and matched his season-high with 13 rebounds. The junior went 7-13 in the field, and 66.7 percent from the three-point range.
