Women's Indoor Track and Field Earns 17 Top Ten Finishes at the GVSU Snowdown Showdown

The Hope College women's track and field team took on the Snowdown Showdown hosted by Grand Valley State University on Friday in the non-scoring meet that featured some opponents such as Eastern Michigan University, Grand Valley State University, and Illinois University - Chicago. 

The Flying Dutch totaled 17 top ten finishes, with three of those also being top five finishes. 

Taylor Novotny, pictured right, and Greta Robrahn each nabbed two top ten finishes for Hope.

Novotny (Batavia, Ill. / Batavia HS) took home 10th place in the high jump, and 7th in the triple jump. The sophomore notched a 1.34 meter high jump, and 9.42 meters in the triple jump. Novotny also took home 13th in the long jump with a recorded distance of 4.50 meters. 

Robrahn (Zeeland, MI / Zeeland East) bested her own record in the shot put, this time recording a 12.87 meter throw for a new Hope record. She previously had set the record at 12.45 meters last week at the Bill Clinger Classic. Robrahn's school record throw earned her 4th place at the Snowdown Throwdown. The freshman also recorded a 10.22 meter throw for 9th place in the weight throw. 

Ana Tucker took home the lone 1st place women's finish for Hope College on Friday, as she clocked a time of 10:07.67 in the 3000 meter race. Coming in 8th place, Heleyna Tucker finished with a time of 10:43.94. 

The Flying Dutch saw two top ten finishes in the 1 mile, as Jacinda Cole (5:04.39) grabbed 6th place, and Ellie Jankowski (5:10.89) took home 10th. 

The 4x400 relay squad of Grace Behrens, J. Cole, Jankowski, and Jessie Schamanek earned the 5th spot as they ran a time of 4:14.81. The team of Sophie Hall, Kennedy Kuhlmann, Erin Moran, and Emily Unger clocked in at 4:32.01 for 8th.

The Flying Dutch's next meet is Friday, Feb. 11, at 5 p.m. at Aquinas College.
