The Hope College men's hockey team recorded another series sweep this season, after they picked up two wins over Davenport University on Friday and Saturday.
Friday night's win of a 8-0 shutout saw two first period goals, three second period goals, and three third period goals, two of those coming on the power play.
Senior Max Mones (Portage, MI / Portage Central HS) put in the first goal of the game, that would go on to stand as the game-winning-goal for Hope. Mones also grabbed a second goal later at the midway mark of the second period as well.
Senior Brad Baysore (Grand Rapids, MI / Grand Rapids Christian), pictured right, notched a hat trick for the Flying Dutchmen in the shutout win, finding two goals in the second period, and one in the first.
Brendan Sanders, a senior from Midland, MI (Herbert Henry Dow) grabbed Hope College's 6th goal to start the third period, and also put in the last goal of the game. Junior Noah Christenson (Grand Rapids, MI / Forest Hills Northern) tallied a single goal in the first win over Davenport.
Assists in the big win came from Lucas Barber (2), Kevin Healy, Gabe Gunneson, Allan Hirsch, Cole Stenstrom, Casen Faustyn, Luke McKinch, Logan Faustyn (2), Ryan Endres, Colin Stecco, and Sanders.
Senior Lukas Schut (Grand Rapids, MI / East Grand Rapids) grabbed the shutout win in net after stopping all 14 shots faced from the Panthers. The Flying Dutchmen sent out 53 shots in the offensive zone in the dominant win.
In Saturday's showdown, Hope College would emerge victorious again. There were five different scorers in the 5-0 win over Davenport in game two.
Junior Mason Weiss (Flushing, MI / Michigan Connections Academy), junior Lucas Barber (Lake Orion, MI / Lake Orion), senior Allan Hirsch (Riverwoods, Ill. / Deerfield), junior Kevin Healy (Rockford, MI / Rockford) as well as Mones were the goal scorers on Saturday.
The assists were notched by Stecco, Mones, Healy, Barber (2), Baysore (2), and Stenstrom.
Maclane Schick was in net for the second shutout win, where he picked up 16 saves. Hope fired off 51 shots on goal in the 5-0 victory.
The Flying Dutchmen move to 25-0 this season overall, and 19-0 in conference play. They take the ice for their final regular season series Friday-Saturday, Feb. 11-12 as they host Indiana University. Puck drop set for 7:30 p.m. on Friday and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday both taking place at Griff's Icehouse West.
