Hope College's Clayton Dykhouse is the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week.
The junior guard from Zeeland, Michigan (Zeeland East HS) is receiving the honor for the second time this season.
Dykhouse averaged 22.0 points and 4 rebounds over three Flying Dutchmen victories last week during the MIAA Tournament, en route to becoming the champions of the MIAA, and punching their ticket to the NCAA DIII Tournament in March.
The elementary education/special education major sunk 7-10 field goals in the 80-58 win over Kalamazoo College on Tuesday in the quarter finals. Dykhouse scored 16 points and led the charge with five assists, and four three-pointers.
During a 94-82 win at home versus Albion on Friday, Dykhouse scored a team-high and career high 31 points. The junior led Hope College in three-point shots with six made, free throws with eleven (of twelve attempted) made, as well as recording team-highs in assists (5) and steals (2).
The MIAA championship game saw a 20 point night from Dykhouse, which in turn, helped lead the Flying Dutchmen to an auto bid to the NCAA Tournament. The junior guard shared the team-high 20 points in the 76-68 win over Calvin University, and went 5-13 in the field, 2-5 from the three-point range, and 8-9 at the line for Hope.
