Hope College shortstop Brant Kym is the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Baseball Position Athlete of the Week.

The senior from Libertyville, Illinois (Libertyville HS) is receiving the honor for the first time this season and the second time in his career.

Kym is recognized after batting .750 with three RBI and three runs scored during the Flying Dutchmen's victories against Transylvania University (Ky.) and Manchester College (Ind.) in Westfield, Ind.

During a 5-0 victory against Transylvania in Saturday's season opener, Kym went 3-for-5 with a triple and a double. The business and economics major also scored once and drove in one run.

During a 16-5 victory against Manchester, Kym batted 3-for-3 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored. He also stole a base.
