GAME NOTES

This is the first meeting between Hope and Millikin in women's basketball. The Flying Dutch are 3-1 against teams from the Collegiate Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin in the NCAA Division III Tournament. Hope has defeated Wheaton (Ill.) twice — 67-55 first-round win at Wartburg (Iowa) in 2019 and 64-37 first-round win at DeVos Fieldhouse in 2013 — and Illinois Wesleyan once — 72-69 second-round win at DeVos Fieldhouse in 2020. Hope suffered a 72-67 second-round loss at Carthage (Wis.), 72-67, in 2014.

The Hope-Millikin winner advances to the sectional final on Saturday at 7 p.m. They will play either No. 7-ranked New York University or No. 9 Scranton (Pa.) for a spot in the Thursday, March 17 national semifinals in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The Flying Dutch are making their 11th trip to the sectional round and seeking their third sectional title. Hope previously won sectional titles in 2006 at DePauw (Ind.) and 2010 at Illinois Wesleyan. The Flying Dutch went on to win a national title in 2006 and were national runner-up in 2010.

The Flying Dutch are playing for their fourth trip to the national semifinals. In 1990, Hope won a three-game regional to advance the national titles. Under head coach Sue Wise, the Flying Dutch went on to win their first national title.

This is Hope's 22nd NCAA Tournament appearance. The Flying Dutch is 43-18 all-time in NCAA Tournament games, including a 7-3 mark in sectional semifinals.
