The UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse at Duquesne University will be colorful for the 2022 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball National Championship game.
Two passionate and supportive fan bases proudly will do their school colors on Saturday, March 19, at 2 p.m. in Pittsburgh: Hope College with orange and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with purple.
"I knew we would travel," Hope head coach Brian Morehouse said after Thursday's national semifinal win against Trine University. "The committee has to be thrilled with the traveling fan bases. Saturday is going to be an amazing atmosphere."
Hope regularly leads the nation in women's basketball and men's basketball attendance in NCAA Division III.
Whitewater senior guard Rebekah Schumacher said her hometown of Whitewater, Wisconsin, is amazing come tournament time.
"We really feel the community's support the whole season but especially as we make these runs they really rally behind us," Schumacher said after Whitewater's national semifinal win against Amherst College (Mass.). "It's pretty special."
