In the 800 meter dash, the Hope College women's track and field squad earned a 1,2,3 finish at the Calvin Spring Thing meet on Thursday at Calvin University.
Senior Jacinda Cole (Holland, Michigan / West Ottawa HS), junior Samantha Schermerhorn (Traverse City, Michigan / Traverse City West) and Madeline Kenney placed in first, second, and third place, respectively. Cole ran the 800 meters in 2 minutes, 22.93 seconds, while Schermerhorn finished in 2:31.72, and Kenney clocked in at 2:33.51.
Freshman Greta Robrahn (Zeeland, Michigan / Zeeland East), recorded a 12.42 meter shot put throw to earn second place against opponents from Calvin University, Aquinas College, and Cornerstone University. In the triple jump, a first place finish was awarded to the Flying Dutch for the second time of the meet. Sophomore Taylor Novotny (Batavia, Illinois / Batavia) recorded a 10.38 meter jump to take the top place.

In the 400 meter dash, there were two top five finishers. Grace Behrens, a junior from Mishawaka, Indiana (Trinity School At Greenlawn), took home second place with a time of 1:01.32, while junior Julie Timperman (Lafayette, Indiana / Faith Christian) came in fourth with a time of 1:03.21.
The high jump brought yet another top three finish with Allison Schram (Fenton, Michigan / Hartland) posting a 1.59 meter jump that soared the freshman into third place at the Spring Thing meet.
The 4x800 meter relay consisting of Anna Halsey (Jenison, Michigan / Hudsonville), Erin Kloostra (Kalamazoo, Michigan / Loy Norrix), Sophie Hall (Holt, Michigan / Haslett/) and Hayley Scollard (Traverse City, Michigan / Traverse City Central) recorded a time of 10:38.59 to finish in second place.
The Flying Dutch return to the track on Saturday, April 23 at Grand Valley State University.
