The Hope College women's and men's cross country teams are starting their seasons among the teams to watch in the Great Lakes Region.

Both appear in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association preseason rankings for NCAA Division III.

The Flying Dutch are perched atop the women's rankings in the Great Lakes Region. Hope claimed MIAA and regional titles last fall and finished eighth at the 2021 NCAA Championships.

The Flying Dutchmen are seventh in the men's preseason regional rankings. Hope placed ninth at the 2021 regional meet.

Regional Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning teams' strength with current season results (if applicable) in determining a rank-order of squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible to receive a ranking.

Led by head coach Mark Northuis, both Hope teams open the season on Friday, September 2, at 11 a.m. at the Central Michigan University Drenth Invitational in Mount Pleasant.

The Flying Dutch and Flying Dutchmen will host the 2022 NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Saturday, November 12, at Three Fires Golf Course in Holland.B
