Women's Cross Country Ranks Eighth in NCAA DIvision III National Preseason Poll

The Hope College women's cross country team is ranked eighth in the NCAA Division III in the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association Preseason Coaches Poll.

The Flying Dutch totaled 282 points in the national poll. The poll is conducted by counting votes from 10 member coaches — one from each of the division's 10 regions.

SUNY Geneseo claimed the top spot with seven first-place votes and 347 points. The rest of the top five featured Wartburg College (Iowa) in second, defending national champion Johns Hopkins University (Maryland) in third, Claremont-Mudd Scripps (California) in fourth, and Williams College (Massachusetts) in fifth. The University of Chicago finished sixth. Massachusetts Institute of Technology was seventh.

Earlier in the week, Hope was announced as the top team in the Great Lakes Regional preseason poll.

Led by head coach Mark Northuis, the Hope women's and men's cross country teams open the season on Friday, September 2, at 11 a.m. at the Central Michigan University Drenth Invitational in Mount Pleasant.

The Flying Dutch and Flying Dutchmen will host the 2022 NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Saturday, November 12, at Three Fires Golf Course in Holland.
