Women's Cross Country Holds Spots in National and Regional Polls

Ellie Jankowski (675)
The Hope College women's cross country team held its positions in the latest national and regional polls from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

This week, the Flying Dutch are eighth in the NCAA Division III rankings and first in the Great Lakes Regional rankings.

Hope, led by head coach Mark Northuis, held both spots during the preseason polls that were announced last month.

The national poll poll is conducted by counting votes from ten member coaches – one from each of the division's ten regions – who also do the Regional Rankings each week.

Regional rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning teams' strength with current season results (if applicable) in determining a rank-order of squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible to receive a ranking. Teams with provisional status within the region may be ranked.

The Flying Dutch next compete on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 9:30 a.m. Central at the Wheaton College Gil Dodds Invitational at the Saint Johns Forest Farm Preserve in Warrenville, Illinois.
