Volleyball Marches Past Kalamazoo

The 17th-ranked Hope College volleyball team handled its first road test in three weeks with flying colors.

The Flying Dutch served a sweep at Kalamazoo College on Saturday, winning 25-15, 25-18, 25-21.

Hope improved to 10-3 overall and 2-0 in MIAA play.

The Flying Dutch played their first match away from DeVos Fieldhouse since the season-opening tournament in Sandusky, Ohio, on September 2-3.

Sophomore Annie Lockett (Mason, Ohio / William Mason HS) led Hope with 16 kills. 

Senior Emma Post (Hudsonville, Michigan / Hudsonville) and sophomore Alison DeWeerd (Kentwood, Michigan / South Christian) chipped in six kills apiece.

The Flying Dutch hit .288 as a team. Freshman Lauren Lee (Plymouth, Michigan / Ann Arbor Skyline) directed the attack with 33 assists. 

Lee and Lockett both recorded three service aces.

Junior Olivia Fiebing (Traverse City, Michigan / Central) collected a team-best 11 digs.

Kalamazoo (3-9, 1-1 MIAA) finished hitting negative 0.039 as a team.

Hope's next game is Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 6:30 p.m. at Calvin University. The game will count toward the MIAA standings.
