The Hope College men's soccer team fell to Washington University in St. Louis on Tuesday, 1-0.
The Flying Dutchmen had six shots to Washington's eight during the road match and is now 2-2-5 this season.
Junior Ethan Jansen (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Forest Hills Northern HS) sent a free kick on net at the 30:00 minute mark, but Washington netminder Matt Martin recorded the save to keep the score 0-0, a score that would hold through the entire first half of play.
Just under 20 minutes remaining in regulation is when the Bears took their lead. Hope would put up multiple scoring chances towards the end of the half, challenging the home team and their lead.
Hope returns to action on Wednesday, October 5 as they enter MIAA league play on the road at Adrian College at 7 p.m.
