Women's Golf Drives Past Albion

The Hope College women's golf team fired off a season-low round during a 322-339 win against Albion College on Friday.

Lauren Sass led the Flying Dutch by carding a 5-over-par 77 at Clearbrook Golf Course in Saugatuck, Michigan. The sophomore from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (Marian HS) fired 38 on the back-nine and a 39 on the front nine for her best collegiate round.

Juniors Grace VanDellen (Oxford, Michigan / Lutheran Northwest) and Abby Fansler (Muskegon, Michigan / Reeths Puffer) each shot 81 for Hope.

Junior Emlin Munch (Traverse City, Michigan / Central) rounded out the Flying Dutch's scoring with an 83.

Senior Rita Cheney (Mason, Michigan / Mason) added an 86.

Six Hope golfers played as individuals: junior Abby Derocher (Farmington, Michigan / Farmington North) with an 85, freshman Caydee Constant (Grand Haven, Michigan / Grand Haven) with an 87, sophomore Sarah Owens (Charlotte, Michigan / Charlotte with an 87), freshman Sara Muir (Ada, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) with a 92, freshman Sammi Campbell 93 (Grand Haven, Michigan / Grand Haven) and sophomore Jordan Winters (New Carlisle, Indiana / New Prairie) with a 93.

Hope's next match is Saturday, September 3, at 2:30 p.m. vs. Albion at Cascades Golf Course in Jackson, Michigan.
