Women's Golf Fires Best Round of Season, Sweeps Albion

The Hope College women's golf team capped a productive week with a third win and the lowest round of the season.

The Flying Dutch carded a 316 at Cascades Golf Course in Jackson, Michigan, on Saturday to top host Albion College by 28 strokes.

On Friday, Hope defeated Albion, 322-339, at Clearbrook Golf Club.

The Flying Dutch's top four golfers all finished within five strokes of each other.

Senior Grace VanDellen (Oxford, Michigan / Lutheran Northwest HS) fired a 5-over-77 on the 6,064-yard course.

Senior Rita Cheney (Mason, Michigan / Mason) chipped in a 78.

Junior Abby Fansler (Muskegon, Michigan / Reeths-Puffer) shot an 80.

Junior Emlin Munch (Traverse City, Michigan / Central) recorded an 81.

The Flying Dutch also received an 83 from sophomore Sarah Owens (Charlotte, Michigan / Charlotte), an 84 from junior Abby Derocher (Farmington, Michigan / North Farmington), a 90 from freshman Sara Muir (Ada, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian), a 92 from sophomore Jordan Winters (New Carlisle, Indiana / New Prairie), and a 93 from sophomore Lauren Sass (Bloomfield Hills, Michigan / Marian).

Hope returns to competition on Friday-Saturday, September 9-10, at the 36-hole Kyle Campbell Memorial Tournament hosted by Olivet College.
