The Hope College ice hockey team picked up in the new year right where it left off.

Playing for the first time since December 9, the top-ranked Flying Dutchmen skated to two more wins, sweeping Davenport University, 7-3 and 11-2, in a weekend ACHA series.

Hope extended its winning streak to 13 games while improving to 18-1 overall and 6-0 in the Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference West Division standings.

On Friday, the Flying Dutchmen won, 7-3, on home ice at Griff's IceHouse West after netting the final four goals of the second period to break open a close game. Hope snapped a 3-3 tie by scoring four times in a span of seven minutes.

The Flying Dutchmen outshot Davenport by a 60-7 margin.

Hope had seven different goal scorers, including freshman forward Hunter Maschke (Portage, Michigan / Portage Central), who recorded the game-winner 7:41 into the third period.

On Saturday, junior right wing Jake Adams (East Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Grand Rapids) registered a four-goal afternoon during an 11-2 victory at Patterson Ice Arena in Grand Rapids.

Sophomore defenseman Nolan Holtrop (Walker, Michigan / Kenowa Hills) chipped in two goals for the Flying Dutchmen.
